Abstract: With the advancement of technology and the ease of accessing information about medications, the practice of self-medication has become increasingly common among the public. This carries the risk of irrational therapy, improper medication use—particularly concerning products classified as "special devices"—and the occurrence of unintended side effects when used without proper supervision or adequate understanding. This health promotion initiative aims to improve public understanding of appropriate medication use. It provides education on drug information, focusing on application techniques for ophthalmic ointments and eye drops (categorized as special devices), as well as the dangers of using pre-packaged medication sets without medical supervision. The target audience for this initiative consists of patients and their families present in the waiting area of the Sultan Agung Eye Center (SEC) at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. The SEC waiting area was selected because the educational material pertains specifically to ophthalmic medications. The session was attended by 40 participants. The implementation method included direct educational outreach—featuring presentations and the distribution of leaflets—followed by an interactive Q&A session to clarify understanding and address any challenges participants faced in using these special device medications. The results indicate that the information provided was well-received by all participants, as evidenced by their high level of enthusiasm, active participation, and the clear understanding demonstrated by the patients and their families when responding to questions during the session.
