Abstract

Abstract: English proficiency and understanding of standardized international tests such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP) are crucial competencies for the younger generation in the globalization era to secure higher education scholarships and enter the professional workforce. In the peri-urban area of Koya Barat, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City, community access to training and information regarding standardized testing remains severely limited, leaving most young people unfamiliar with test formats and effective test-taking strategies. This community service activity aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the TOEFL ITP test, train test-taking strategies, and conduct a test simulation for young people. The target partners were the Catholic Youth Community (OMK) of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish, Koya, Jayapura, involving 23 participants consisting of high school students, university students, as well as workers and job seekers. The implementation method used a participatory approach through educational lectures, interactive discussions, and a diagnostic test simulation. The results showed that participants successfully understood the TOEFL ITP format and anatomy, mapped baseline proficiency with overall simulation scores ranging from 293 to 403 (average 332.2), and proved effective in reducing test anxiety while fostering self-regulated learning motivation.
